Artificial Super Intelligence

As recently as November 2024, it was generally believed that “Artificial Superintelligence” was far off and perhaps unachievable due to various limitations. Developments in quantum computing and Artificial General Intelligence have changed the landscape. Some now opine that more powerful and faster supercomputing will enable AI models to create their own programming and improve their own programming, and will no longer be limited by running into a “shortage of data,” which is needed to “train” Artificial Intelligence models and then conduct post-training after incorporating “human interaction learning” to fine tune and improve the AI models. The “finite” level of human data is no longer seen as a limitation due to the recent introduction of “synthetic data” to “improve” AI models to “outperform” human intelligence. Synthetic Data is touted as “Better than the Real Thing.” (Symage.ai)

“Integrating synthetic data into AI development pipelines delivers some serious efficiency boosts . . . synthetic data allows for the automated creation of large-scale, diverse datasets, eliminating the bottleneck of having to collect real-world data. . . . Another huge advantage is the ability to rapidly iterate on scenario generation and data augmentation. . . .You can generate [new scenarios] with just a few tweaks, speeding up the process and allowing for more frequent model training cycles. . . Synthetic data also makes it easy to simulate rare events and edge cases that are difficult to capture in real life but essential for robust model training.”

Symage, “5 Key Questions about Synthetic Data Every Data Scientist Should Know” (November 19, 2024)

Again, synthetic data may be “better” than data gathered from human experience, but it is “synthetic,” not genuine, and not divine in nature or entirely true.

For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. . . For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. . . Then we will no longer be immature [and] won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.” Ephesians 4:14 and 5:8-9
